16th Germanic Linguistics Annual Conference

The Germanic Linguistics Annual Conference (GLAC) is the conference of the international Society for Germanic Linguistics (SGL), an organization serving the broad community of scholars teaching and researching in Germanic Linguistics and Philology. The conference welcomes papers encompassing the full range of subfields in Germanic linguistics and philology, including phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, sociolinguistics, language acquisition, psycholinguistics, and language contact and change, and all Germanic languages and dialects, including Modern German, Dutch, Yiddish, the Scandinavian languages, Afrikaans, Pennsylvania German, English (to 1500), and Gothic, as well as texts and manuscripts in these languages.

All GLAC 16 conference sessions will be held at the UWM School of Continuing Education's conference center located approximately three blocks east of our conference hotel, The Doubletree Hotel. This facility is on the 6th and 7th floor of the Plankinton Building at 161 W Wisconsin Ave. in the Grand Avenue Mall. All conference activities are on the 7th floor. Use the elevators on the north side of the building off Wisconsin Avenue. Notice for drivers: The Wisconsin Avenue bridge directly east of Plankinton Street is under repair and may or not be open. Parking is available in the Grand Ave lot, directly adjacent to the Plankington Building. Enter at Plankinton Street a half block north of Michigan. Use the elevators on the north side of the building, off Wisconsin. Ave. Those coming from the UWM campus are advised to take Lake Drive to Michigan to the facility.
