General Mitchell International Airport (MKE) is a medium-hub airport owned and operated by Milwaukee County. Mitchell's 13 airlines offer approximately 194 daily departures (plus 194 daily arrivals). General Mitchell International Airport is conveniently located just six miles south of downtown Milwaukee.

Amtrak can be accessed at the airport or at the central station in downtown Milwaukee.


Hotel Information

The Doubletree Hotel Milwaukee City Center is located approximately four miles from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. A block of rooms has been reserved under "Germanic Linguistics Annual Conference (GLAC 16)" for a rate of $80 single/$90 double + a current tax rate of 14.6% per night. To secure the conference rate, rooms must be booked by March 1st, 2009. Rooms may be booked by calling (414) 273-2950 or 1-800-222-TREE.

All GLAC 16 conference sessions will be held at the UWM School of Continuing Education’s conference center located approximately three blocks east of our conference hotel, The Doubletree Hotel. This facility is on the 6th and 7th floor of the Plankinton Building at 161 W Wisconsin Ave. in the Grand Avenue Mall. All conference activities are on the 7th floor. Use the elevators on the north side of the building off Wisconsin. Avenue.
