Research at UWM Economics

We have 24 outstanding faculty members who are active researchers and teachers. Since 2002, our faculty have published well over 300 articles, chapters and books on a wide variety of economic topics. Since 1999, our research has appeared in top economics journals such as the American Economic Review, Econometrica, Canadian Journal of Economics, European Economic Review, the Journal of Econometrics, and Review of Economics and Statistics, and as well as top field journals such as Industrial and Labor Relations Review, the Journal of Development Economics, the Journal of Human Resources, the Journal of International Economics, and the Journal of Public Economics.

Based on research productivity, two members of our department were recently inducted into Who’s Who in Economics, 2003. In addition, a recent article in the Southern Economic Journal ranked our research productivity particularly highly in the fields of labor economics (35th in the nation), industrial organization (47th), economic development (51st), urban economics (51st) and international economics (53rd). Other accomplishments of our department and faculty were summarized recently in a news story on the main UWM webpage.
