Fall 2011
The Department of English invites applications for the inaugural year of an innovative new campus prize, the Leslie Whitaker Memorial Fund Award. This award is established in the memory of our late colleague, Leslie Whitaker, wife of Michael Fendrich, director of the Center for Addiction and Behavioral Health Research and professor of social work in the Helen Bader School of Social Welfare. The award is designed to support a bi-annual symposium, workshop, or lecture, centered around writing, creativity, and teaching. The first round application deadline is Oct. 24; please read the full announcement (PDF).
Jane Gallop's new book, The Deaths of the Author: Reading and Writing in Time, was released in July by Duke University Press and can be ordered through the Press or on Amazon.com.
Attending to Early Modern Women, which has been held seven times at the University of Maryland since 1990, is moving to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2012!
