Our program boasts internationally renowned faculty, a lively and engaged community and a cutting-edge curriculum. Our approach stresses specialization within an integrated, cross-media foundation, professional preparation for an academic career, and a supportive environment for scholars-in-the making.
Teaching Assistantships and graduate fellowships are available on a competitive basis, usually with full tuition waivers. After an initial training year, most TAs also teach in our Film Studies program and the plan’s own undergraduate track in English. Advanced students and dissertators have the opportunity to propose and teach their own courses in their area of specialization. UWM also offers one-year fellowships, including fellowships for disadvantaged students or students from under-represented groups, and some of these are open for incoming students.
