Yuri V. Kitov, Lecturer

Yuri Kitov holds a Kandidatskaya Degree in Esthetics (1990) and a Doctoral Degree in Theory and History of Culture (2002) both from Moscow State University of Culture. He has published three books and a number of articles (in Russian and Ukrainian) devoted to contemporary development of Russian Culture. Yuri currently teaches at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, but he is also affiliated with Moscow State University of Culture and Arts, Rovno State Institute of Culture, Tula College of Culture and Norilsk Pedagogical University. He was a JFDP (Fulbright) Scholar at UWM (1996), a member of the group of scientists to prepare The National Educational Doctrine of Russian Federation (2000), he participated in various field researches in Russian regions (2002-2005), and taught a class "Ethnic processes in Contemporary Russia" at the Center for Ethnic Studies at UWM.

Research Interests:
The theory and history of Russian culture, ethnic processes in the CIS (former Soviet Union) and the cultural interests of Russian regional elite. His current research project is entitled "Cultural Interests of Russian Regional Elite," which is his working on with Moscow State University of Culture and Arts and Tambov Regional Department of Sociological Monitoring. Yuri is mentoring two PhD students at Moscow State University of Culture and Arts.
