Teaching Assistantships

The application deadline to guarantee consideration for a teaching assistantship in Comparative Literature for the fall semester is February 1 of the previous spring semester. Applications can be downloaded at

Students within the Comparative Literature concentration may also apply for teaching assistantships with the other language programs within MALLT. Application materials and deadlines are available at the link above as well.

Fellowships and Grants

At UWM, Graduate School Fellowships are awarded each year to select new and continuing graduate students. A limited number of Advanced Opportunity Program Fellowships are also awarded annually to qualified students who are members of groups underrepresented in graduate study. Students of certain literatures and languages may also apply for Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) fellowships. More information on these fellowships as well as graduate fellowships offered from other sources outside of UWM is available on the Graduate School's fellowship page.

The Comparative Literature program also offers a select number of stipends through the Chancellor's Graduate Student Awards program to exceptional students. Applicants who apply by January 15 will automatically be considered for these awards.
