Purchases for New L&S Academic Hires
To assist each new faculty and academic staff hire in university-related instruction and research, the College generally provides that person with a desktop computer and appropriate software as dictated by terms articulated in an “offer of employment” letter. New L&S hires are advised to use the official L&S Computer Purchasing Process to configure their computer and create an E-Quote that can be quickly reviewed and ordered by L&S purchasing agents.
By default, a high-end L&S-configured Dell PC will be ordered for each incoming academic hire; a list of current L&S-recommended computer configurations and pricing information is available as a reference.
During a discussion concerning the terms of potential employment by the College, prospective L&S academic hires are encouraged to identify any compelling instructional and/or research requirements that may not be addressed by the College’s current high-end L&S-configured Dell PC.
Deployment & Support
All computers purchased for new academic hires by L&S departments or units will be:
- initially shipped from the vendor to LSITO
- extensively prepared and deployed with the latest L&S image
- exclusively delivered and set up by LSITO technicians
- backed by the support of LSITO
