Robert J. Beck, Director

Robert J. Beck is Director of the L&S IT Office. He also serves as the Chief Information Officer of the College and Associate Professor of Political Science. From 1998-2000, Dr. Beck served as Director of Tufts University's Center for Teaching Excellence. Before Tufts, he spent nine years in full-time teaching and research at the University of Virginia (Government & Foreign Affairs, 1989-90, 91-98) and the University of Minnesota (Political Science, 1990-91).

Among his published works are the International Law volume of the International Studies Encyclopedia (co-editor and contributor), International Law and the Rise of Nations (co-editor and contributor, 2001), International Rules (co-editor and contributor, 1996), International Law and the Use of Force (co-author, second edition forthcoming, 1993 first edition), and The Grenada Invasion (author, 1993) . He has also published articles in such journals as International Security, the Review of International Studies, International Studies Perspectives, the Naval War College Review, the International Journal of Refugee Law, and the Wisconsin International Law Journal.
