Robert J. Beck, Director

Robert J. Beck is Director of the L&S IT Office. He also serves as Director of Academic Technology at UWM's Center for International Education and Associate Professor of Political Science. From 1998-2000, Dr. Beck served as Director of Tufts University's Center for Teaching Excellence. Before Tufts, he spent nine years in full-time teaching and research at the University of Virginia (Government & Foreign Affairs, 1989-90, 91-98) and the University of Minnesota (Political Science, 1990-91).

Among his published works are International Law and the Rise of Nations (co-editor and contributor, 2001), International Rules (co-editor and contributor, 1996), International Law and the Use of Force (co-author, second edition forthcoming, 1993 first edition), and The Grenada Invasion (author, 1993) . He has also published articles in such journals as International Security, the Review of International Studies, the Naval War College Review, the International Journal of Refugee Law, and the Wisconsin International Law Journal.
