On Friday, October 4, 2013, the UWM/MPM Museum Studies Graduate Certificate Program will be celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Museum Studies Program. Please join us in celebrating this important milestone in the program's history.
The Museum Studies 50th Anniversary organizing committee is pleased to invite current and former students of the program to participate in a poster session on Friday, October 4, 2013. The poster session and subsequent poster awards ceremony will be the central components of a day-long event marking the certificate program's fifty successful years.
Poster authors must be former or present UWM Museum Studies students. Poster proposals may be related to any aspect of museums. Poster topics may include: public programs, object research and or conservation, internship experiences, or thesis and dissertation projects. Posters will be judged by a five member panel. Award criteria will be 1) originality and significance of the topic 2) "flow" of the argument or information presented and 3) quality of graphical presentation.
Abstracts should be no more than 250 words describing the poster and should be submitted electronically via email to the program's coordinators W. Warner Wood and Dawn Scher Thomae at: MuseumStsfirstname.lastname@example.org. Please include "UWM MSP Poster Proposal" and your last name in the subject line of you submission. Abstracts may be included in the body of the email message or attached as MSword .doc or .docx files.
Deadline for abstract submission is: August 1, 2013.
Notification of acceptance will be made by September 1, 2013 and will include information about the responsibilities of accepted poster authors and acceptable poster size, materials, etc.
