Graduate Program
The UWM Department of Sociology is the home of engaged teachers and active researchers who offer exciting opportunities for graduate study and research in a wide variety of sub-disciplines. Our graduates have gone on to some of the best Ph.D. programs in the country, as well as a host of fascinating jobs ranging from business and market research to teaching to social services. We admit students for the fall semester only and our deadline is January 15th, but we do consider applications submitted after that date. For Prospective Students
To apply, applicants should submit:
- An application via the UWM Graduate School
- Three letters of recommendation using this form directly to Director of Graduate Studies, Department of Sociology, PO Box 413, Milwaukee, WI 53201-0413
- A sample of scholarly writing, a minimum of five pages in length (send to departmental address, above)
Those applicants seeking a teaching assistantship also must submit directly to the sociology department:
- GRE scores (institution code 1473, department code 2101)
- TAship request form to the Department of Sociology (use address above)
