"From Race to Riches—Fault Lines in the American Political Field"
John Levi Martin received a PhD in Sociology from the University of California–Berkeley and was recently Associate Chair of Sociology at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. His work concentrates on the formal properties of belief systems and social structures; other recent publications deal with field theory, the rationalization of infantry war, the use of race as a conceptual category in American sociology, and the gendering of power dynamics. His current projects include the development of local social structures and pseudo-spatial models for response data.
