Urban Studies Programs'
Fall Social and Book Signing

On Friday, September 22, Urban Studies Programs will sponsor a Fall Social and Book Signing: "Urban Space, Globalization, and Global Boundaries." The event will be held 5:30 - 8:00 p.m., at the Hefter Conference Center (located at the corner of Lake Drive and Hartford Avenue).

Recently published works by USP authors will be featured including: Virtual Migration: The Programming of Globalization, by A. Aneesh (Sociology); Structures of Memory: Understanding Urban Change in Berlin and Beyond, by Jennifer A. Jordan (Sociology); and Satanic Mills or Silicon Islands? The Politics of High-Tech Production in the Philippines by Steven C. McKay (Sociology). Additionally, there will be a panel discussion on Globalization's Impact on Cities beginning at 6:00 p.m. The dialogue will be moderated by John Schmid, economics writer for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

The featured books will be available for purchase at the program and can be paid for by cash, check, or charge.

The event is free and open to the public. Hors d'oeuvres will be served and a cash bar will be available.
