Digital Spatial Data Clearinghouse staff members can help patrons find GIS data within the Clearinghouse collection. Staff members can also process datasets for use in projects, including converting formats or reprojecting datasets. In-person reference services are usually available during AGS Library hours. However, for more detailed requests, it is recommended that patrons make an appointment. Limited assistance via e-mail or telephone is also provided. Contact the GIS Librarian at 414-229-6282 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Assistance to non-UWM patrons will be provided as resources and license restrictions permit.
IIf patrons request data not currently available in the Clearinghouse, staff members can contact outside sources and attempt to acquire the data (at the discretion of the GISLibrarian). Keep in mind that acquiring data from other sources can take weeks or months in some cases.
The AGS Library does not provide instruction in the use of software packages. Tutorials are available via the web to familiarize patrons with ArcGIS and other software packages. Limited individualized assistance after completion of a tutorial is available by appointment for data-related questions.
Clearinghouse staff members can also scan and plot AGS Library maps, charts and atlases for patrons, pursuant to copyright regulations. For a list of scanning and plotting equipment and prices, visit our website on Reproducing AGS Library Materials. Many of the more popular AGS Library maps have already been scanned and are continually being added to the online AGSL Digital Collection.
