Atlas of Cancer Mortality in the United States, 1950-1994
The Atlas of Cancer Mortality in the United States, 1950-1994 is a collection of maps, text, tables and figures showing the geographic patterns of cancer death rates throughout the United States from 1950 to 1994 for about 40 cancers.
Atlas van der Hagen en Atlas Beudeker
Images from a world atlas by Van der Hagen (c. 1609) and volume 21, Conquests of the Netherlands, of the Atlas Beudeker (c. 1750). The maps and prints can be browsed by atlas and searched for by using indexes or free text fields, and the images can be viewed and downloaded.

Electronic Cultural Atlas Initiative

EROS Data Center
The Earth Resources Observation Systems (EROS) Data Center (EDC) is a data management, systems development, and research field center for the U.S. Geological Survey's (USGS) National Mapping Division. Organizationally, the USGS is a bureau of the U.S. Department of the Interior. The EDC opened in the early 1970's with a handful of employees and the largest mainframe computer in the State of South Dakota. Today the EDC has approximately 600 government and contractor employees, including employees at its Alaska Field Office in Anchorage, Alaska, and employees at the NASA Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, California. And now the EDC houses one of the largest computer complexes in the Department of the Interior.
International Lake Environment Committee

This site contains information about almost 2 million physical and cultural geographic features in the United States. The Federally recognized name of each feature described in the data base in identified, and References are made to a feature's location by State, county, and geographic coordinates.

GEOnet Names Server [NIMA]
Provides access to the National Imagery and Mapping Agency's (NIMA) database of foreign geographic feature names.
Getty Thesaurus of Geographic Names Browser
The TGN is a structured vocabulary containing around 1,000,000 names and other information about places. The TGN includes all continents and nations of the modern political world, as well a historical places. It includes physical features and administrative entities, such as cities and nations. The emphasis in TGN is on places important for art and architecture.
Shtetl Seeker
Enter a the name of a town in Central and Eastern Europe, using exact spelling or the Daitch-Mokotoff Soundex system, and Shtetl Seeker will give the latitude and longitude for each location, the distance/direction from the country's capital city, and a link to a map. Shtetl Seeker will also list all of the towns within a certain distance of a given latitude / longitude coordinates.
U.S. Gazetteer
The US Government Census Bureau Gazetteer. This gazetteer is used to identify places to view with the Tiger Map Server and obtain census data from the 1990 Census Lookup server.

National Geodetic Survey
The National Geodetic Survey (NGS) develops and maintains the National Spatial Reference System (NSRS) using advanced geodetic, photogrammetric, and remote sensing techniques.
