The National Map Seamless Server [USGS]
Free downloads of orthoimagery and Landsat imagery. Also has transportation, boundaries, hydrography, land cover and elevation data.

NIX [NASA Image eXchange]
This site contains a web-based search engine for searching one or more of NASA's online multimedia collections. Searching is performed using keywords. NIX returns thumbnail sized images, textual descriptions, image numbers, links to higher resolution images, and links to the organization that stores each image.

Photojournal [NASA-Jet Propulsion Laboratory]
Over 2,000 Shuttle Radar Topography Mission images are available to view or download.

SAXTA Project
The SAXTA Project is a distributed system of sharing high-resolution Earth observation data sets. "The objective is to dramatically improve access to, and distribution of, high-resolution satellite data sets for the science, applied science, and education communities."

All the Web
A search enigine for finding web pages, pictures, videos, MP3 files, and FTP files.

The Deep Web: Surfacing Hidden Value
Article discusing the "Deep Web," web pages which do not exist until they are created dynamically as the result of a specific search, making them difficult for traditional search engines to find.

Direct Search
Direct Search is a growing compilation of links to the search interfaces of resources that contain data on the "Invisible Web", that is, resources not easily or entirely accessible when using general search engines.

Geoindex
A search engine which specializes in geoenvironmental topics - geotechnical, environmental, hydrogeological, geology, mining, and petroleum. The site also contains a list of association, company, educational, and governmental links related to the geoenvironmental profession.

Vivísimo
A search engine that organizes search results into "document clusters", i.e., site lists grouped by topic.

A web site is produced by the Applied Population Laboratory, a group of research and outreach professionals within the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The site contains excellent demographic and economic data, and offers products such as reports and maps, and services from mappings to custom projects.

Family Search
The site, produced by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, contains extensive genealogical records and general information on how to conduct genological research.

U.S. Census Bureau
Contains various resources for topics and data related to census information.

University of Michigan Document Center - Statistical Resources on the Web
