Undergraduate major, minor, and M.A. Graduate option combining special study in language and linguistics with philosophy. Major topics of consideration are: the history of Western philosophy from the Pre-Socratics to the present; Eastern philosophy, including Islamic and Indian religious thought; logic; metaphysics; theory of knowledge; language and meaning; ethics; aesthetics; social and political philosophy, including philosophy of law; philosophy of natural and social science; philosophy of religion, including phenomenological approaches; philosophy of history; philosophy of education; and feminist theory.
