Stephanie Ackerman, Program Manager for the Office of Development gave a brief summary of what the Foundation does and announced upcoming events:
- The Foundation has recently made recommendations to hire a consultant to work on fund-raising. They are in the process of meeting with the recommended company.
- The fund-raising campaign kickoff date has not been set yet. There will be a meeting with the consultant and the deans and directors of each department. Peter Watson-Boone, Ewa Barczyk and Susan Modder will be actively involved with this.
- 3 categories of fundraising activities: Scholarship, Faculty and Special Needs. The public phase of the capital campaign has not yet been announced. It may be a year from now.
- In terms of how the finances work, any money raised for the libraries will count toward the campaign but will go to the libraries. The libraries have a lot of potential and opportunities.

The Friend’s annual meeting will be scheduled for Thursday, June 12, 2003. Suggested using WTMJ news film footage from Archives to show the public other non-print media from the UWM Libraries.
