ILL Rush Request Service

If articles from journals not owned by the UWM Libraries are needed quickly, Rush Article Request processing is available. Articles can usually be obtained within 24-48 hours after the requests have been received and processed in the Interlibrary Loan Office.  To make these requests, you can use the RUSH Article Request option within ILLiad.  There is no charge for rush service, however, rush orders require additional processing, so please use this option only when necessary.  If you submit a large number of requests in one day, these requests may not all be processed within that day, allowing the Interlibrary Loan staff to give due attention to all requests that are submitted. Complete citations and an accurate “Not Wanted After Date” field, found in the request form, will help expedite the processing.

Please note that books cannot be requested via this form. If you need a book quickly, the UW System Borrowing option available within PantherCat, our online catalog, is the best option. For instructions on how to place a request, please see UW System Borrowing. If it is not available via UW System Borrowing, you can use the notes field within the Book, Video, CD form in ILLiad to indicate how soon you need it. Completing the “Not Wanted After Date” field will also help us determine how to process the request. We can try to obtain the material as quickly as possible, but the delivery time depends largely upon the lending library.

Alternative Sources of Periodicals

Direct access to materials in other local libraries may satisfy your needs. Please ask at the Research and Instructional Support Information Desk if you need help identifying alternative sources of periodicals or other research materials.
