Director to Present Film on Micro-credit Bank's Founder
Documentary filmmaker Holly Mosher will present her most recent film, “Bonsai People: The Vision of Muhammad Yunus,” at a free screening on Sunday, September 22 at 3 p.m. in the American Geographical Society Library, located on the third floor, east wing of the UWM Golda Meir Library, 2311 E. Hartford Avenue.
“Bonsai People” looks at Nobel Peace Prize-winner Muhammad Yunus, his successful initiative to give micro-credit loans to Bangladeshi women, and his efforts to create a new movement—social business.
The Los Angeles Times calls the documentary a “hopeful film . . . about the power of honest work to confer dignity as well as put food on the table, about how the seed of an idea can take root and grow.”
After the screening, Mosher will answer questions about the film and its subject. The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Golda Meir Library.
