The architectural legacy of the noted Milwaukee firm Willis and Lillian Leenhouts Architects will be explored by local architecture historian Juanita Ellias on Thursday, August 7 at the 7th annual “Revisiting Our Past” local history lecture sponsored by the UWM Libraries Archives Dept.
The Leenhouts were well known for their regional modernist style and use of passive solar technologies. They designed over 500 built and unbuilt projects from 1936 to 1990, mostly multi- or single-family residences in the Milwaukee area.
The presentation, free and open to the public, begins at 7 p.m. in the fourth floor Conference Center of the UWM Golda Meir Library building, 2311 E. Hartford Ave. A reception follows, courtesy of the Friends of the Golda Meir Library. For more information or to arrange for special needs, please call 414-229-5402.
