Library Catalogs

PantherCat

PantherCat, the online catalog of the UWM Libraries, contains catalog entries of all Milwaukee Area Research Center collections and processed UWM archives and manuscript collections. These catalog records provide basic information about our collections, such as the creator and title of a collection, the collection call number, an abstract, and subject headings. More extensive description of a collection is often provided by a finding aid, which is accessible via the catalog record.

Search Limits

To limit your search to the Archives Department, select "Archives" from the Quick Limit drop-down menu on the catalog home page. Searches limited to "Archives" will include both primary sources and secondary sources from our reading room library in the results.

To limit your search to archives and manuscript collections—thereby excluding our reading room library from your search results—select "Set Limits" on the catalog home page. On the following page, set Location to "Archives" and Item Type to "Archival/Manuscript." Again, select "Set Limits."

Search limits are unavailable for searches by author, subject heading (browse), and a few other instances.

Additional directions for searching PantherCat are available on the UWM Libraries' site.

ArCat

ArCat, the online catalog of the Wisconsin Historical Society (WHS) Archives Division, contains catalog entries of all WHS manuscript collections, state government records, and local government records, including those located at the Milwaukee Area Research Center in the UWM Libraries.

Directions for searching ArCat are available on the Wisconsin Historical Society's site.
