CELEBRATE EARTH DAY WEDNESDAY

This Wednesday April 22 is Earth Day. The Curriculum Library has many titles about the earth, it's resources, and problems. Plan some time to share issues and spark excitement using these or the many free resources found on the internet, including worksheets, coloring templates, lesson ideas and more.

NEW! Database forPrimary Sources

Use Eighteenth Century Collections Online to access the digital images of each page from books,pamphlets, essays, broadsides and more, published during the 18th Century. Over 136,000 titles - mainly works published in the UK but also thousands from elsewhere. With full-text searching of millions of pages, the product allows new methods of access to critical information in the fields of history, literature, religion, law, fine arts, science and more. FY2009 EETT GRANT APPLICATION IS AVAILABLE TO WISCONSIN SCHOOLS

The Enhancing Education Through Technology (EETT) FY2009 Competitive Grant application and supporting documents are posted on the Instructional Media and Technology Team website at _http://dpi.wi.gov/imt/nclbindex.html_. This grant funds professional development programs for raising student academic achievement by increasing educators’ use of instructional technology tools and strategies in their classrooms. While grant consortia must include at least one school district where the percentage of families in poverty is at least 11%; partnerships may include public libraries, institutions of higher education or other organizations with demonstrated expertise in the application of technology to instruction.
This grant is funded through the FY2009 Enhancing Education Through Technology (EETT) Program (Title II, Part D of No Child Left Behind). It does NOT include funding from The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). Additional funding for the EETT program through ARRA is expected in summer or fall of 2009. FREE videos

Annenberg Media's multimedia resources help teachers increase their expertise in their fields and assist them in improving their teaching methods. Many programs are also intended for students in the classroom and viewers at home. It is part of The Annenberg Foundation and advances the Foundation's goal of encouraging the development of more effective ways to share ideas and knowledge.

The web site: http://www.Learner.org has over 150 programs on the following subjects: arts, education, education reform, foreign language, literature and language arts, mathematics, science, and social sciences/history. An option to narrow by available grade levels (from K-college& adult) is also offered . Free sign up is required for first-time users.
