Curriculum Collection Resources
You can limit a search in PantherCat to search only the materials in the Curriculum Collection by creating an Advanced Search and selecting "Curriculum Library" as your location.
- Professional materials cover the practical aspects of teaching: instruction, classroom management, and assessment. These materials are shelved by the Dewey decimal classification system.
- Children’s and young adult fiction is shelved by the author's last name.
Picture books can be identified by the orange labels on their spines, and they can be searched by the subject heading “picture books for children.”
- Children’s and young adult non-fiction is shelved by Dewey decimal.
Foreign language children’s and young adult literature is shelved separately.
- K-12 Textbooks from many different subject areas are represented in the collection. These are classified as follows:

- Reference materials include bibliographies, information about authors and illustrators, and selection aids. These materials are arranged by Dewey decimal and are available for use within the UWM Libraries only. Serials in Curriculum Collection reference are shelved by the Library of Congress classification system.
- Historical materials include over 3,000 books of award-winning children’s literature, early classics, and textbooks in many subjects. These are shelved separately and can be accessed by request. Materials generally do not circulate.
- Multimedia materials include kits designed to teach specific skills or concepts, math manipulatives, activity cards, videos, and games. Other materials include charts, study prints, slides, records, and audiotapes.
