MULTIMEDIA LIBRARY COLLECTION

The Multimedia Library's collection of videotapes and laserdiscs embraces many diverse disciplines. The Multimedia Library has a number of subject Mediagraphies which are lists of DVD, videotape and laserdisc titles that are available in various subject areas. These lists are available at the Multimedia Library's service counter or at http://www.uwm.edu/Libraries/media/mediagraphy.html.

Multimedia titles can also be searched for in the UWM Libraries' online catalog. Here are some suggestions for locating a media title in the online catalog:

VIDEOTAPES:

1) Click on the Set Limits button.
2) Scroll down the page to the Search Limits list.
3) In the Location limit, scroll down to "Multimedia Library - VHS" and click on it.
4) Click on Set Limits.    NOTE: Limits only work in Keyword, Title and Advanced Searches.
5) Click on the Search type in the Search By box.

SEARCH TYPES
Keyword (Ranked by Relevance)Searches for any keyword(s). Put quotation marks around keywords that should be searched as a phrase.
Keyword (and, or, not)Searches for any keyword(s) using the words and, or, or not.
TitleSearches for items using the EXACT title.
AuthorSearches for items using the EXACT author name (lastname space firstname).
Call # Searches for items using the EXACT call number.
SubjectSearches for items using the EXACT **subject heading.
   **Consult the Library of Congress Subject Headings available in the Research and Instructional Support Department.
