Limited to an edition of 18, plus 6 artist's proofs, this book forms part of the Children Don't Count Project, a memorial to the children under age fourteen murdered in the United States in 1993. The project was established by Milwaukee fine-press printer Amos Paul Kennedy, Jr. The book was handset and printed on a Vandercook 4 by UWM MFA graduate Caren Heft, using ATF Caslon Roman and Bernhard Modern Bold. The papers are Heft's own Root River Mill abaca. This project was funded in part by the Pallette Shop, Milwaukee. Caren Heft was a panelist in the 1995 3 Women Fine-Press Printers, and was a featured presenter in the 1995 Book FOR[U]MS speaker series. If I Should Die is one of eleven Arcadian Press imprints acquired by Special Collections from 1994 to 1996. Arcadian Press was featured in the 1995 UWM Library exhibit The Contemporary Fine Press. |
