Limited to an edition of 28 copies, this book was printed using 18 point Garamond on Cranes Distaff Linen. The color woodcuts were printed on Stonehinge made by Rising Paper Co. The text consists of letters written by Danny Pierce over 35 years ago to his friend, Fred Meadowcroft, while Danny was serving as Artist-in-Residence at the University of Alaska. Danny became chair of the Art Department there before coming to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he taught for twenty-five years before retiring to his home in Kent, Washington. Special Collections holds all but one of Danny's twenty-two artist's books. Danny and his books were the subject of the 1995 UWM Library retrospective exhibition, DANNY: 36 Years at the Red Door Studio. |
