"Joe Friebert is a special edition of 25 copies made to honor the retirement of one of the UWM Art Department's revered professors. The entire edition was presented to him at the retirement party.

"The woodcut portrait of Joe, I cut from a drawing of him during a faculty meeting. It was difficult as I was sitting next to Joe and I did not want him suspicious of what I was doing. Leon Travanty designed the cover and the title. The secretary to the Chairperson helped in the studio gathering the information for the text and proofreading."
