Dream Snake. 1997. Bound by Lisa Moline. Screen print, computer graphics, typewriter, collage, and drawing (gouache, pen, pencil) on found pages.
Cover to cover, page to page, unbind, exfoliate. . . No blank pages. Print upon printing - lithography, woodcut, rubber stamps, drawing, typewriting, collage, computer printing - layer upon layer. Meaning, a vague destination, is reconstructed slowly, painstakingly. Page by page, folio to signature, re-sewn and rebound. I don't desire an art product that screams "book!", but a book product that whispers "art(?)"
Back in a library where they live as things on shelves, as bits in the bitstream. . . poetry products, with the meaning accrued in the making. Leaf through them. Quiet little things. Books.
