For the past 20 years I have been a public school art teacher (1976-1993) and professor of art education (1992-1997). One of the last courses I took in my certification program the summer of 1976, was a book-making class with Prof. Terry Barrett at The Ohio State University. The book on view here that displays batik on rice paper was a product of that course. It illustrates my approach to art making. The book was designed so that I could show elementary school students the process of holding certain areas of color with liquid wax before over-dyeing. It has served me well as a demonstration piece for both the elementary and college students majoring in elementary and art education.
