Because we want to look tall,
being so short
and we want to feel good,
feeling so sad

Because we hate ourselves?
Or maybe love ourselves
or we want to look pretty
being unattractive

Because you don't have to be rich
to wear high heels
you can be very poor
you can also be fat
or skinny or just a medium size

Who invented them anyway?
It was a man who hated his wife,
his mother, and his sister
because they were mean to him
when he was growing up
one day he decided to invent
a new way of torture
And punish all women
for life and centuries to come
He formed a secret society
and all men belong to it
for hundreds of years
they've been meeting
all over the world
to plan new ways of torture
to destroy female feet
to unbalance our bodies
and create varicose veins
in our legs

Because we love them
you can see high heels
in small towns, in big
and small cities, on farms,
women wear high heels
to go to church,
to dance, to go to work,
to look for employment,
to file for unemployment
to see lawyers or doctors
to enter or get out of
the hospitals
women wear high heels
on dirt or marble floors
on carpeted or wood floors
on roads full of stones in Latin America
women wear high heels
EVERYWHERE
we wear high heels
to parties, to lunches, to dates,
to get married, to file for divorce,
to attend birthday parties
or to go to a funeral
to drive cars, to ride buses,
fly in airplanes,
bicycles and motorcycles

Sometimes two inches, four,
six or even eight inches high
many women have lost
their balance
and have fallen on the ground
walking in those heels
serious consequences
have occurred
broken ankles
pulled muscles
bloody knees
but we keep wearing
those high heels

SISTERS - STOP! STOP!
Punishing ourselves
STOP the pain in our tired feet
Let's start a REVOLUTION
a feet REVOLUTION
STOP! STOP!
RIGHT NOW!
PLEASE STOP!
Wearing high heels
Let's all go BAREFOOT!
