Peggy Hong

Peggy Hong was born in Seoul, South Korea, and raised in Hawaii and New York State. She studied literature and writing at Barnard College/Columbia University, where she received a BA in 1985. Her poems, which focus on themes of heritage and domesticity, have been published in numerous anthologies and journals including Bamboo Ridge, IKON, Asian Pacific American Journal, Mothering, and Pudding Magazine. She received an Art Futures fellowship for poetry from Milwaukee County in 1998. She is also a dancer who teaches, performs, choreographs, and writes dance reviews. She lives in Milwaukee with her three children and her husband, where she works at Woodland Pattern, a literary center and small-press bookstore, as Community Education Coordinator and instructor of creative writing for adults and children. She is the author of the chapbook, The Sister Who Swallows the Ocean (CrowLadies, 1998), and is co-author with artist Lia Gima and poet Anja Malesa of the fine arts letterpress book, Hoofbeats (Gokiburi Press, 1997). She is currently enrolled in the MFA Program in Creative Writing at Antioch College, Los Angeles.
