New stationery format specifications
A new system of formats has been developed for University letterhead, business cards and #10 envelopes. The primary visibility of the University identity is maintained in these new formats, however, the school, college, division and office names have been given greater emphasis in both size and placement.
Letterhead
The UWM Preferred Signature appears in the upper left, with a ruled-line placed as indicated, extending to the right of the page. The school or college name always appears in the more prominent position at the upper right, with it's capital letter size being 2/3 the height of the smaller capitals in the word Milwaukee in the UWM Preferred Signature. The "Office of" information, as necessary, is placed flush-left below the school or college name. In the case of a division or office name, instead of a school or college, either name can appear in the larger specified position, and is at the discretion of the dean or division head.
Individual personalization and address information appears at the upper right, below
the ruled-line, in the flush left positions and specifications as indicated. Within the
address information block, the Post Office Box information is required by the United States Post Office for mail delivery. However, the street address may also appear along with other necessary information, including the nine digit zip code.
At the bottom of the page, an optional placement of a school or college tagline is indicated and specified with a similar ruled-line as at the top of the page, appearing in UWM Signal Yellow. The tagline is aligned flush-left with the information block at the top of the page, as indicated. The tagline does not appear on business cards or the #10 envelope but may appear on other communications.
To maintain consistency and to promote a clean and contemporary appearance, the body copy within letters should be placed in relation to the UWM Preferred Signature at the upper left.
Business card
The new business card format emphasizes the school, college, division or office name adjacent to the UWM signature at the top of the card. In the case of a division or office name, instead of a school or college, it can appear in the larger specified position, rather than below the person's name at the discretion of the dean or division head. The individual name below the rule is also emphasized, with other information placed flush-left below the name as indicated. The e-mail address and as many as five phone numbers may be included in the flush-left copy block to the right. The flush-left copy block at left includes the location address and web address. The position and sizes of the typography are specified in the above diagram.
#10 envelope
The School, college or division name appears on one line. The placement of information is consistent with the United States Post Office regulations for a clear space of 2-3/4" from the bottom edge of the envelope to the last line of the return address. This spacing must be maintained. Taglines may not be used on envelopes.
