Wimba Voice Tools

Learn how to use Wimba to make threaded voice boards, send voice-enabled email, embed voice within D2L pages, as well as hold live group discussions and debates, and much more!

A Brief Introduction to Using Jing

Jing is a free, easy-to-use program that can enhance any course with an online component!  With a few simple mouse clicks, you can create an audio/visual presentation of anything displayed on your computer screen. Whether you are creating a slideshow type presentation, giving verbal feedback on submitted homework, assigning homework, or much more, Jing can be used to quickly and easily add a target- language listening component to almost any activity.

Only basic computer skills are required. This demonstration is ideal for people who are curious about implementing audio/visual technologies in the classroom.

Social Networking Tools: Wiki

A wiki is basically a community forum, a place to collaborate right on the Web. Wikis are a uniquely versatile, web-based technology because anyone can edit a wiki. One great example is Wikipedia! But wikis can be used for much more! Come learn how to use wikis for group projects, peer review, assignments and resource collections. In this workshop, you will be shown numerous examples of wikis and learn how to make your own!

Creating Audio Activities Using Audacity

Audacity is free, easy-to-use software program used for recording and editing sounds. This 50 minute workshop will offer a demonstration of the tool, its features, and possible uses for language instruction, as well as a discussion of ways to implement Audacity into already existing course work and teacher training.

Google Tools for Language Learning

Google is not just a search engine! Google also has a number of web-based tools perfect for language instructors including Google Gadgets, Google Translator, Google Video, Google Groups and much much more! Come to this workshop to learn how to stretch Google to its ultimate limit in your language classroom. The workshop will also teach effective, instructional uses for YouTube.
