Fees for servicesare central elements in the economic portfolio of nonprofit operations. But the potential for fee income is often misunderstood or not fully explored by many nonprofits. Participants in this forum will explore the appropriate place of fee income, with some dicsussion of commercial ventures, in nonprofit finance, by considering the following:.
- What are the patterns and trends in nonprofit fees and commercial revenue?
- What types of activities generate earned revenues?
- What is the case for charging fees for services, and what approaches can be used for setting prices?
- What is the relationship between commercial revenue and other revenue source?
Dennis Young is the editor of Financing Nonprofits and coauthor of the chapter, "Fee Income and Commercial Ventures." Professor Young is the Bernard B. and Eugenia A.
