Community Design Solutions: Building for Change
Experts from UWM's School of Architecture and Urban Planning are partnering with representatives of municipalities, nonprofits, and neighborhood business associations to bring new vitality to the metropolitan landscape. Community Design Solutions is involved in an array of activities, from designing The Milwaukee Idea Home, a prototype for low-cost energy efficient urban housing to operating a "Quick Response Team" of faculty and students who share their expertise with nonprofit organizations and neighborhood groups seeking design help. Community Design Solutions also helped develop the Maryland Avenue Plan to address concerns such as property values, student housing and campus-community relations.
