Partnerships for Education:
Strengthening Our Schools
Partnerships for Education is a community-wide effort to revitalize
our urban schools supported by over $26 million in federal grants.
UWM, the Milwaukee Public Schools and other educational institutions
throughout Southeastern Wisconsin are joining forces to prepare
more students for college, particularly those from culturally and
linguistically diverse families; create a strong teacher workforce
prepared to meet the challenges of urban schools and integrate information
technology into teacher education programs.
Through this initiative, UWM is playing a lead role in the Milwaukee
Partnership Academy, a community-wide effort to recruit and retain
top quality teachers. Partnerships for Education is also assisting
in the development of curriculum for the new Lynde and Harry Bradley
School of Technology and Trade and helping several elementary schools
enhance the learning environment with educational software.
