Women's Health Research: Building
knowledge to meet women's needs
This new initiative aims to substantially advance research and expand
community/university partnerships in the study of women's health
as well as increase educational opportunities in women's health
for women of color, of varied ethnic backgrounds and disadvantaged
women. The initiative will build on research now being done at UWM
in such areas as the impact of welfare reform on the lives and health
of low-income women, personal and workplace factors that affect
the choice and ability to breastfeed, women and cardiovascular disease,
adolescent pregnancy prevention, breast cancer screening among minority
women and exercise physiology.
