Mission & Goals
Mission Statement:
The mission of the Multicultural Student Center (MSC) is to serve as a visible and active structure that embodies the university's commitment to inclusion and student success.
Goals:
- Serve as a clearinghouse of information and services that help students easily access and participate in the array of campus services, programs, activities, and opportunities designed to foster student retention and academic success.
- Facilitate and promote, in collaboration with other campus programs, the socio-cultural, personal, intellectual, and leadership development of multicultural students.
- Make students aware of opportunities to explore their own cultures and backgrounds, understand the experiences and perspectives of other cultures, and develop skills associated with intercultural awareness.
- Assist, facilitate, and enhance the collaboration and communication among multicultural programs and services on campus.
- Promote, develop, and implement, in collaboration with other campus programs, educational workshops and socio-cultural activities for students and the campus community.
- Provide assistance, in collaboration with other campus programs, to prospective multicultural students from application to enrollment.
- Assist the Office of Assessment in the reporting of multicultural efforts on campus.
- Produce publications, in collaboration with other campus programs, that will enhance communication with multicultural students and help connect them to the campus.
