Cantos de las Americas/A Tribute to Education

A cultural journey through the Americas

Cantos de las Americas/A Tribute to Education began in 1990 as part of the UW-Milwaukee's Hispanic History and Culture Conference. Since then, this event has continued as an annual celebration of cultures at the Uihlein Hall of the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts.

Each year, students from over 10 Milwaukee Public Schools are showcased in dances, songs, and skits from the various Greater American cultures. The concert features performances from Caribbean, African, South American, Central American, Mexican, Filipino, Hmong, and Laotian cultures.

The Cantos is sponsored by the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Milwaukee Public Schools, and the Council for the Spanish Speaking, Inc.
