”GIS Day 2009” will take place on the 3rd and 4th Floor of the Golda Meir Library on the UWM campus from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will feature a dozen Speed Sessions (about 20 minutes each) on topics ranging from Business and Marketing to Geosciences, three Hands-On Workshops, tours of the American Geographic Society Library, Vendor Demonstrations from community organizations and businesses, a Student Poster Competition sponsored by the Wisconsin Land Information Association (WLIA), a complimentary Zaffiro’s pizza lunch with coffee from Stone Creek Coffee and a lunchtime presentation by Howard Veregin, the new Wisconsin State Cartographer, entitled “Geo-enabled Cartography”.
This year’s new speed session format will bring participants ‘up-to-speed’ about new breakthroughs in GIS applications.
