Sept. 1: UWM WiFi Service Launches in Mitchell Hall

On Sunday, Sept. 1, UWM WiFi will be launched in Mitchell Hall to replace the PROWLnet wireless service. During the cutover maintenance timeframe (from 10 p.m. Sat., Aug. 31 through 6 a.m., Sun., Sept. 1), connectivity to the PROWLnet service will be sporadic.

UWM WiFi provides various service options including public, UWMWiFi (secured connection for faculty, staff and students), UWMSponsored (for visitors) and eduroam (for visitors from participating eduroam institutions).

In addition, UWM WiFi will provide coverage in classrooms and lecture halls to meet the increasing need for wireless service in these classroom environments. There will also be coverage in hallways, offices and minimal coverage in restrooms. There will be no coverage in mechanical rooms or external stairways.

This launch is part of the second phase of UWM WiFi expansion which will also include the Music building, Architecture and Urban Planning building, Merrill Hall, and the Physics building. UWM WiFi is currently available in the Union, Library, Bolton Hall, Lubar Hall, Lapham Hall, the EMS building, Global Water Center, and the Zilber School of Public Health.
