Feb. 27, SCE Dean's Distinguished Lecture Series

Join university faculty, local leaders and community members for lively discussion after Anne Basting speaks on Creatively Aging at 5:30 p.m., Wed., Feb. 27, at the School of Continuing Education.

Basting, who is the executive director of the Center on Age & Community and an associate professor in theatre, shares her nationally recognized research on how the arts can serve as a powerful way to engage older adults in a creative and healing process of self-expression and provide accessible and uplifting ways to cope with changing abilities.

As she notes, the process of aging is a profound experience marked by increasing physical and emotional change and a heightened search for meaning and purpose. Creative expression is important for older adults, regardless of economic status, age, or level of physical, emotional, or cognitive functioning. http://www.ageandcommunity.org/about/staff.html
