From the Chancellor: Thanks and Best Wishes
December 14, 2012
Dear UWM Campus Community,
As the Fall 2012 semester comes to a close, I want to first thank everyone for sharing all of your talents. This is a busy time for the entire campus, and I want each of you to know that I wish you the most success as you finish projects, papers, finals, grading, and serving and caring for our UWM community. I appreciate all of your hard work and effort in making UWM a great place to learn and work.
Earlier this semester, at one of my Brown Bag lunches, a faculty member asked me what the faculty could do to best support the university. My reply was to keep doing your best to achieve academic excellence. By doing this, you will create great stories for me to tell in the broader community that supports UWM. That answer wasn't limited to just faculty members, and extends to the need for great accomplishments by staff members and students as well.
With that in mind, it was only appropriate that our Chancellor's Spotlight on Excellence this month focus on some of the outstanding students who are graduating this semester. The six featured students are a good representative sampling of the more than 2,200 students being awarded degrees in Fall 2012. You can find the six video stories here:
Finally, please accept my best wishes for a safe and joyous holiday season. I hope that you all will have a chance to do something that you really enjoy and spend some quality time with your loved ones. I know how much you give to UWM on a daily basis, and you deserve some time to recharge.
