Karen Morin

Karen Morin, professor and director of graduate programs in the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee College of Nursing, has been named to the Academy of Nursing Education Fellows (ANEF), part of the National League of Nursing (NLN)’s Academy of Nursing Education. Morin was inducted Sept. 26.

The NLN is a membership organization for nursing faculty and leaders in nursing education. Academy of Nursing Education Fellows are selected for their contributions to nursing education and continued leadership in the field. Morin was one of only 20 nursing educators nationwide selected this year.

Morin’s research explores the the effects of obesity on pregnancy, gender issues in health care, and faculty development issues. She joined UWM in 2006. She received her undergraduate degree in nursing from the University of Ottawa in Ontario; her master’s degree from the University of Central Arkansas and her doctorate from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

She began her academic career teaching undergraduate students maternal-child health nursing at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Since that time, she has taught undergraduate, masters and doctoral students in private and public university. Before joining UWM, she taught at Western Michigan University.
Morin is also serving as president-elect of Sigma Theta Tau, a nursing honor society supporting the learning, knowledge, and professional development of nurses committed to making a difference in health worldwide.
