CON students receive Milwaukee Chapter-National Black Nurses Association scholarship awards

The Milwaukee Chapter of the National Black Nurses' Association (MCNBNA) continued their 28 year tradition of supporting nursing education in November by hosting an annual scholarship luncheon to aid nursing students in their educational endeavors.

The MCNBNA was founded in 1980 and has grown tremendously since. The funds raised annually through the scholarship dinner/luncheon have grown from $300 in 1980 to $11,000 in 2010. The Chapter continues to also provide health education, screening and health advocacy for the African American community.

UW-Milwaukee College of Nursing scholarship recipients were Mary Ajoa Esson, Florine Ndakuya, and Tiffany Theard. Ms. Theard also received the PresidewithDrUnderwoodWEBntial Award Scholarship. This award recognizes the current year's recipient with the highest cumulative grade point average and MCNBNA community involvement.
