Nursing students use color and images to facilitate healing
Six nursing students decided to replace a previously destroyed mural at the All Saints Wisconsin Avenue campus for their class clinical project. Their goal was to create a therapeutic environment for an adolescent population in a mental health and psychiatric setting that would facilitate patient progress, healing, and hope. Their project paper expressed that nursing “should not be limited to the administration of medications and treatments, but rather be oriented to providing a healing environment.”
The students created the mural based on theories proven regarding the perception of color, the influence of art, and the effect of nature.
