Before joining the UWM College of Nursing Institute for Urban Health Partnerships in 2004, Ms. Vang worked as a nurse at an Aurora family practice for two years.
She was also employed by the City of Milwaukee for eight years where she worked as a public health nurse in various capacities.

Her areas of research interests are community/public health and health education/communication.

Teaching
Ms. Vang has many years of teaching and outreaching to women and their family in the community. Her work with both undergraduate and graduate students focuses on the planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating a theory to practice cancer train-the-trainer program at the UWM Community Nursing Centers. This program involves using adult and cultural theories, and evidence-based nursing practice related to women’s health: particularly, breast and cervical cancer.
