Post MS Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate
The Post MS Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate program is available to master's prepared registered nurses. Students within this program develop their skills within a diverse, urban community. Specifically, they develop skills in critical thinking, communication, and advanced clinical decision-making in the context of relationship-based primary care.
Graduates of this program are highly successful in becoming certified through the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Family Nurse Practitioner Theory 1, 2, 3 (9 credits total)
Family Nurse Practitioner Practicum 1, 2, 3 (12 credits total)

Admission InformationThe admission requirements of the master's program are consistent with those of the Graduate School of UWM. In addition, students must meet the following requirements:
- Completion of a MS in Nursing degree from an accredited program.
- Completion, with a grade of B or higher, of graduate level courses in physiology, epidemiology, comprehensive assessment and pharmacology. Evidence of prescriptive authority in the state of Wisconsin will be accepted in place of graduate pharmacology.
- Current registration in Wisconsin as a professional nurse.
- Completion of all requirements as indicated in the Guide to the Application Process (found on the Forms and Materials page).
- Three forms of recommendation (found on the Forms and Materials page) for graduate study in nursing, two of which are knowledgeable about the applicant's recent academic and work experiences. It is recommend that two of the three be from person's with a master's degree in nursing. Personal interview of applicants with a faculty member may be requested.

This certificate program qualifies as a Gainful Employment program.
