Doctor of Nursing Practice
The College of Nursing is excited to offer the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) beginning Fall 2009. Practitioners with a DNP have the experience and expertise to meet the healthcare needs of the future. They have the advanced clinical knowledge and leadership skills to strengthen healthcare delivery, patient outcomes and system management. Offering this terminal degree in advanced practice nursing is an exciting avenue for UW-Milwaukee!

The first class of students in the DNP program will begin in Fall 2009 for students who currently have an advanced practice Master's degree in nursing. The 8 courses (24 credits) will be offered in an online format followed by a 4 credit residency program. The admission details, pre-requisites and curriculum are listed below.

For those with a baccalaureate degree in nursing who would like to obtain an advanced practice degree, the BS to DNP is a great option. This 64-credit program offers 30 credits of theoretical courses and 30 credits of advanced practice clinical or non-clinical specialization. There is also an additional 4 credit clinical residency requirement of 460 clock hours. We are hoping to admit our first class in Fall 2010. Watch for more information in the fall!
